A Tribute to John Gfroerer, Gasholder Advocate and Friend

With the untimely passing of John Gfroerer, we lost a dear friend and historic preservation advocate. As his family wrote in his obituary: John sought to teach others the value of honesty, integrity, humility, and diplomacy. He worked tirelessly to capture and convey the human stories behind the Save Our Gasholder effort. John will be deeply missed.

You can view the video series John produced for the Preservation Alliance and the Concord Historical Society on the Save Our Gasholder blog. This on-going series documents the 1888 Gasholder’s industrial past as well as recent efforts to save and repurpose the two-acre gasworks site.

Read more on John’s life and legacy in this N.H. Preservation Alliance blog post.

Videographer John Gfroerer films Tom Evarts of Yankee Steeplejack Company at the Concord, NH Gasholder site during 2022 emergency stabilization.
